Mapping Crime

Date: 28-Jul-08

UK Home Secretary endorses mapping crime

New interactive maps which will allow every neighbourhood in England and Wales to access local crime information will be ready by the end of 2008.

Jacqui Smith, Home Secretary in the UK said "By rolling out up-to-date, interactive crime maps we can better inform people about crime problems in their area and enable them to have much more of a say in what their local police focus on"

By using technology, such as hand-e-pix, criminal justice agencies can provide up to date information to those people paying for the service; in this case UK tax payers.
