London, UK - West Yorkshire Police has placed an order with Handheld PCs this week for the deployment of hand-e-pix® to 500 of their frontline officers. With well over 5,000 officers in total, West Yorkshire Police is one of the largest police forces in the UK. The initial roll out of hand-e-pix on the BlackBerry® Curve™ 8310 smartphone will be to the 47 Neighbourhood Policing Teams. The teams are Inspector led, made up of sergeants, constables and Police Community Support Officers. Neighbourhood teams are visible and accessible to local communities, providing a familiar face to the service. The teams work closely with communities in defined geographical areas and in partnership to tackle the issues most important to local people such as anti-social behaviour, vandalism and graffiti.
