Skanska Balfour Beatty Construction Joint Venture selects hand-e-pix to help manage

Quality Assurance aspects of the £1.1 billion M25 motorway widening and improvement

schemes.

LONDON – 21st January 2010 – Handheld PCs Ltd today announced it has won a significant contract with the Skanska Balfour Beatty Joint Venture for the provision of a hosted mobile computing solution. The system is designed to provide real-time management of quality issues arising from the field.

Skanska Balfour Beatty Quality Inspectors use Smartphones running the hand-e-pix software to capture time, date and GPS-stamped images of the works in progress. The images also carry notes relating to specific quality issues and alert the management team to any defects requiring immediate action.

The images and related information are presented to managers via the hand-e-pix Media Manager - a secure, managed web database from where reports are generated and trends are analysed.

David Blackburn, Managing Director of the Joint Venture says, "It is of paramount importance that the scheme is completed to strict deadlines. With hand-e-pix we have real-time visibility of the works in progress and can respond instantly to problems that might otherwise compromise our ability to complete key engineering phases on time”.

This latest contract award for Handheld PCs and hand-e-pix adds to an already prestigious array of customers across different industry sectors.
